Atlantis

How far down are we going to let this country go?
It's been speculated that our demise is the only legacy we are going to leave behind
As the decline in our wealth and power leads to poverty of spirit
We are getting beaten down and boxed in to an ever larger margin of error
Not because we have been outnumbered or outmanned
But because we walked into a fight empty handed with closed eyes
Mentally blind
Too late, we realized that sodomy isn't just penetration from behind
But the insidious penetration to the core of our consciousness with razor-blade tongues
That slice the truth into unrecognizable shreds
And cause our resolve to rush from us like water through a sieve
With our faith floating along in the current
Libertarian and Centrist
Republican and Democrat
We all end up being violated by those parties we've been indoctrinated to embrace
As they plunder our finances, futures and freedoms
And sink us further into the muddied waters of our collective past

A catalog of negative, but true issues without making an attempt to offer one solution makes your rant pointless, and somewhat depressing.

I don't think expressing frustration and disappointment regarding our government and its failings is pointless. Depressing? Maybe. Cathartic? Absolutely. Why should I offer solutions? Do you really believe that there are implementable solutions that can alter the course of this behemoth that is our government? I am not that naive. We can hope, but history tells us that every great empire eventually fails and falls. Ours is failing and it will fall. Many of the folks that get into politics start out believing that they will enact positive changes, but eventually, they sell their souls and end up being changed. It's the nature of the beast.

Why should you offer solutions.Question is do you even have any solutions?Yes I think there are implementable solutions that can alter the course of this "behemoth"that is our goverment.Just because something hasn`t been done yet doesn`t mean it can`t be done. You lacking in the belief department does not make me naive,or anyone else who believe things in goverment can change for the better. It`s easy and all to common I might add to point out problems, but coming up with solutions that the majority can agree on is hard but not impossible.

Anonymous, I envy your optimism. I am finding as I get older that I am losing my optimism and idealism and becoming more of a cynic. Those in power aim to maintain the status quo. If we lived in a true democracy, as opposed to the more or less oligarchical government we have, I would be more hopeful, but not everyone has an equal shot at leadership in this country. Those that would change things don't have a real shot at doing so because it would take everyone sharing a common interest and a common goal to do so. Do you see everyone in our government working together to totally revamp our government and level the playing field?
